First Electric Cooperative and the Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas partnered with a local builder, to customize a newly built, all-electric home using smart home automation products.

These products offer awareness, energy-efficiency, security, convenience and control – any place and any time. Though this home is new construction, these products can all be integrated easily into an existing home as well.

This modern home was constructed using insulated doors and windows, foam insulation, LED lighting and a 16 SEER heat pump to maximize energy-efficiency. Then, a full list of smart products were implemented so that the homeowner could take full advantage of the energy-savings potential.

Below is a list of home automation products that were used:

Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detector

Google Nest Protect - a smart smoke and carbon monoxide detector with a split-spectrum sensor that tests itself automatically, lasting up to ten years and is controlled by your phone.

Smart Garage Door

LiftMaster - a smart garage door opener that controls your garage door from anywhere using your smartphone and enables secure in-garage delivery for Amazon Prime packages.

Smart Locks

Nest x Yale - a smart door lock that is tamper-proof, key-free deadbolt connected to your Nest app, so it allows you to lock and unlock your door from anywhere.

Water Control

Flo by Moen - a smart home water monitoring and leak detection system that monitors and detects leaks as small as a drop per minute and other issues, offering an app that allows you to monitor water usage, pressure and temperature.

Hybrid Water Heater

Rheem ProTerra - a hybrid electric water heater that is energy-efficient, leak detection system and able to connect to your mobile device.

Doorbell and Security

  • Nest Doorbell – check-in and answer from anywhere when you receive alerts.
  • Nest Cam – 24/7 live view and three hours of free video history and customizable alerts.
