October is National Co-op Month, and while it gives us a reason to celebrate, the cooperative spirit isn’t something that only shows up on the calendar once a year.

At First Electric, it shows up every day.

It’s there when a crew waves to a member while working along a county road. It’s in the familiar voice on the other end of the phone when someone has an account question. It’s an employee volunteering at a local event, supporting a school or simply helping a neighbor.

Those everyday moments tell the story of what it means to be a cooperative better than any definition ever could.

First Electric was built by people who believed their communities deserved dependable electric service. Generations later, that same sense of purpose continues to guide us.

Our communities have certainly changed. Homes have been built where fields once stood. Technology has transformed the way we live and work. Members expect more information, more convenience and more ways to stay connected.

And we’ve grown right alongside them.

Today, First Electric continues investing in the electric system that powers homes, farms and businesses across our service territory. Through Connect2First, we’re also connecting communities with high-speed fiber internet and creating opportunities that would have been difficult to imagine when our cooperative first began.

But even as technology changes, some things shouldn’t.

We still believe local relationships matter. We still believe in answering when our members need us. And we still believe the communities we serve should be stronger because First Electric is part of them.

That may be the simplest way to explain the cooperative difference.

We aren’t just serving communities across Arkansas. We’re part of them.

This October, we’re grateful for the members who have trusted First Electric through the generations and for the employees who carry that responsibility forward every day.
