Powering Our Communities With Purpose
Posted on October 2nd, 2024
First Electric Cooperative is deeply committed to our members, and we’re glad you are part of the electric cooperative community. More than 30,000 cooperatives across the U.S. are celebrating National Co-op Month this month. It’s a time to reflect on all the aspects that set cooperatives apart from other types of businesses, but more importantly, it’s a time to celebrate the power of co-op membership.
Unlike other for-profit utilities, electric cooperatives are built by the members we serve. Our mission is “improving quality of life” through the electric service, high-speed internet and community outreach we provide. We care about you and your families, and because we are locally operated, we’re uniquely suited to meet your evolving energy needs. This makes us unique, and we’re proud to have you as part of our cooperative.
Beyond the electric and high-speed internet business, our employees and directors are deeply invested. We live in the communities we serve, so we work hard to support regional economic development projects, youth programs, charitable giving initiatives and additional programs that make our communities a better place to call home.
The seven cooperative principles guide all cooperatives and embody the movement’s values and spirit. They are a framework to help all cooperatives navigate challenges and opportunities while remaining true to their purpose.
