Three Ways to Report Power Outages
Posted on December 1st, 2020
In the event of a power outage, help First Electric isolate and repair the problem by reporting it. Power outages may be reported 24 hours a day. Remember to report your outage any time your power is out and do not assume that others have reported it.
• Text “OUT” to 85700
To enroll in First Electric’s texting service, just send a text to 85700 with “FECC” in the body. After you sign up for text notifications, you will be notified of future power outages by text and will be sent a text when your power is restored. Please note that the cell phone you use must be on file with First Electric. You can call 800-489-7405 to add the number to your account. Please allow at least 24 hours for the system to update before reporting an outage via text. The co-op does not charge for this service, but standard text messaging rates from your carrier still apply.
• Use First Electric’s mobile app or website
First Electric’s free mobile app is available to download in the Apple and Android stores. Just create an account and then use the “Report an Outage” button to report your outage. Our free online bill payment system on our website (under report an issue) also allows you to report an outage. Call 800-489-7405 to speak to a member service specialist for assistance.
• Call 888-827-3322
If the automated system doesn’t recognize your number, it will ask for one on file. You may either enter the number using touch-tone buttons or by saying the number aloud. If you wish, you may leave a voice message with your service address and details about the outage. The system will provide an estimated time of restoration if one is available at that time. Remember to call any time your power is out and do not assume that others have reported the outage. Once you make your outage report, please do not report the outage again unless an emergency arises.
